Theban Magical Runes (Part 1)

(I know its been a real while since I've posted anything magickal, or told you guys about the results of any of my spells, here's one to make up for it big time. It's the first part on a series of posts about turning the my favorite magical alphabet into a set of runes for spells, incantations and talismans. Enjoy.)
[UPDATE : References to the Sacred Child, Lover and The Red Queen are explained in this post]

The Theban Script, one of the most popular magical alphabets, have been used for at least three centuries now as a method of hiding the meaning behind magical writings, documents and incantations. But, beyond being a cipher for the Latin alphabet, each character has no inherent powers or mystical meaning. Personally, I find this to be a bit anticlimactic to the ultra-mysterious feel that I get whenever I write in it. That’s when I decided to turn it into an entire system of runes and rune magic, based on alchemical and astrological permutations. Whoever said I can't just wake up one day and simply say "Hey, I'mma make mahself a set'o roons"?

All of the letters, (including the double-v, “w”) would make a total of 24 symbols, two sets of twelve, three sets of eight and six sets of fours. I gave each of them names arbitrarily picked out, but also gave consideration when it came to their formulaic meaning.

Let's start with the first Eight, shall we?

Apof, symbolizes raw, unstable energy that could be turned into anything. It is the primal roar at the beginning of time. It is immense potential, untamed strength. It represents crude, but formidable, power.
It is under the influence of the Sacred Child, alchemical Mercury, Saturn and Aries. It is associated with the feeling of eagerness at new beginnings, all the possibilities that could be accomplished at the start of new projects.
It’s useful for an adding additional “umph” to workings, add three Apof’s to talismans would add an intense amount of power, reminiscent of the “AAAA”’s of the ancient Greek talismans.

Besz, represents the act of gathering the unstable power of Apof, giving it purpose and
cultivating it. It’s investing and expecting good returns from it. It is the gentle, yet forceful prowl before the pounce, the calm before the storm.
It is under the Influence of the Sacred Child, alchemical Mercury, Jupiter and Taurus. It is associated with energy or assets being set aside for a time in a productive way, before using it to fulfill a pre-determined purpose.
It could be useful in grounding and energy-gathering rites, workings and talismans.

Ceru symbolizes energy being forcefully and suddenly moved and used, similar to a projectile being shot or winds gushing uncontrollably. There is an intended target, but there is minimal control during its time in transit. It is the random volley of spears; it is the careless words said in pure anger or sadness. It is the use of force to get something out of the way in the short term.
It is under the influence of the Sacred Child, alchemical Mercury, Mars and Gemini. It is associated with a sudden burst of powerful energy, ballistics and all things where the use of destructive force becomes necessary. It’ll be very useful in defensive and offensive enchantments.

Dimas represents making boundaries on the fly and balancing oneself in transit. It is individuating oneself by not getting pulled in by the crowd. It is self-correcting one’s use of power and being aware of one’s actions. It prevents Apof from running out of control and minimizes the damage made by Ceru.
It is under the influence of the Sacred Child, alchemical Mercury, the Sun and Cancer. It is associated with jury-rigging things to make things unique and stopping oneself in mid-sentence before making a major verbal slip-up.
It is very useful in making energy control mechanisms, and to develop alertness and self-awareness.

Erus represents the active energy stored within well-defined structures that could be unleashed using special means. It is also the powers inherent in emotion and passion, which could be kindled and enflamed by special stimuli. It is the deep-seated energy in within rocks in the form of petroleum and in the emotions in both traumatic and pleasantly memorable memories.
It is under the influence of the Sacred Child, alchemical mercury, Venus and Leo. It is associated with fossil fuel, emotional energy, and the Kudalini. It will be potent for channeling stored energy and unleashing personal power.

Fosfo symbolizes the methodical and systematic use of power, actively looking for a way to overcome an obstacle. It is energy varying in expression in order to overcome a problem, constant revision and permutation, its many forms all working at the same time in order to find the best course of action. It explores the possibilities that could be achieved with Apof, it teaches Ceru to express itself differently and utilizes the stored energy in Besz.
It is under the influence of the Sacred Child, alchemical Mercury, Mercury and Virgo. It is associated with finding new ways, developing new methods to solve problems, planned and willed lateral thinking. It’ll be useful for causing beneficial change in a situation.

Gildam is the rune representing interactions that cause beneficial change in both parties,

creating balance through mirroring the other in their own terms. It symbolizes the power and change realized in the bliss of sex. It also symbolizes gifts given out of love, and received with gratitude. It illustrates the synergy between two people or systems moving in a manner good to both.
It is under the influence of the Sacred Child, alchemical Mercury, the Moon and Libra. It is associated with alliances, partnerships, wedding and other things where a beneficial union occurs.
It will be useful in channeling the energies from sexual rituals and in love-related enchantments.

Hastur is the rune of sacrifices and raising the energy levels of inert objects. If Erus is the energy locked deep within the Earth or within the person, Hastur would be the process in which the energies of Erus would be created. It differs from Besz in that, Besz cultivates very active and unstable energy, while Hastur immolates and energizes what is inert. It “sacrifices” its “earthly” state for it to become fit for loftier use.

It is under the influence of the Sacred Child, alchemical Mercury, the Earth and Scorpio. It is associated with making offerings, abstentions and sacrifices that have a clearly defined reason as to why it is being done, and also with consecrating objects.

And there we go, the First Eight of the Theban Magickal Runes. All of you are welcome to try them out for a test run, it's actually encouraged! But do so at your own risk... Hehehe    ^ _ ^
